Hampton Inn Lima

Have stayed at this Hampton Inn many times and have had no issues. However this time was much different. The room was on second floor and the floor hallway stunk, like old wet carpet/musky smell and the room smelled the same. We had to leave and get Febreze Air spray to make the room tolerable. The bed/mattress was poor quality and extremely hard, like sleeping on the floor. The luggage holder/stool had multiple visible fluid stains. Also when we checked in they asked how often did we want the room serviced while we there and did we want full or partial service. All of this was very disappointing, especially for a Hilton property, and the fact that the quality of the hotel has gone down so much. There was a bad storm while we were there and the hotel was without power for many hours. The stairwells did not have emergency lighting and a large flashlight was set on the landing to provide light. The emergency lights in the hallways did not work. Giving all the issues with the room and no power, we checked out early and went to another hotel.

The rooms and hotel were extremely well kept. I walk around in my socks all the time. I even walked down to the ice machine in them and they didn't get any more dirty than the normal dirty. There was a large group in the hotel the 1st night we were there. The next morning there were so many people eating breakfast there weren't enough seats. However, the food was kept stocked and fresh. The machine with the juice was not working for the orange juice so they put a bottle of orange juice out. I have stayed at a lot of hotels. This one cared about everything. I won't lie this was not my first choice for the weekend, but that was booked. I will definitely have a hard decision to make the next time I come into town. I was impressed with the Hampton.

We stayed here on previous visits to Lima, and it was great, until this visit. The hallway had a dirty wet carpet odor, and our room was worse. We would have left if it hadn't been so late. I went to Walmart and purchased febreze just to make it tolerable. The next night, we sprayed the room again, and it was much better. Overnight, there was a storm, and there was a power outage. The hotel does not have a backup generator, and there are no emergency lights in the stairwell. They placed a flashlight on each landing for light. The emergency lights that are in the hallways are not equipped with battery backup, so they didn't work either. We checked out and went to another hotel.
